3.3 ADJUSTMENT OF FOCUSING

It is possible to bring every subject into focus from the shortest adjustment distance (see technical data sheet) to infinity by turning the focusing wheel.

3.4 DIOPTRIC COMPENSATION

To achieve optimal image quality, the possibly varying visual acuity between the left and right eye must be corrected.

Swarovski CL Companion 8×30 B, 10×30 B

Use with equal acuity of both eyes: The dioptric compensation is set to “zero”.

Use with varying acuity of both eyes:

  1. Look through the left ocular with your left eye and turn the focusing wheel to focus sharply on a selected object.

  2. Now, using your right eye, look at the same object through the right eyepiece and use the dioptric compensation to set the optimal image sharpness. For that purpose, press on the dioptric compensation on the focusing wheel and turn the dioptric compensation left or right until the image is sharp.

5. MAINTENANCE AND CARE

5.1 LENS-CLEANING CLOTH

You can clean high sensitive lens surfaces with the enclosed special microfibre cloth. It is suitable for objective lens, ocular lens and spectacles. Please keep the cloth clean, as dirt can damage the lens surface. If the cloth becomes soiled it can be washed in lukewarm soapy water and left to dry. Please only use for cleaning lens surfaces!

5.2 CLEANING

We have designed all elements and surfaces to require little care. To ensure the long-lasting optical brilliance of your binoculars, you should keep the glass surfaces free of dirt, oil and grease. When cleaning the lenses, first remove larger particles with an optical lens brush. For the subsequent thorough cleaning we recommend breathing onto the lens surface to form a coat of condensation and then cleaning it with a soft, moist cloth. The housing is best cleansed with a soft, moist cloth (don’t use the lens-cleaning cloth).

In the event of hard-to-remove dirt (e.g. sand) the eye cups can be unscrewed and cleaned easily.

5.3 STORAGE

You should keep your binoculars in its bag in a well-ventilated, dry place. If the instrument is wet, it must be dried prior to storage. In tropical regions or regions with a high degree of humidity the best place to store the instrument in is an air-tight receptacle along with a moistureabsorbing agent (e.g. silica gel).

6. FOR YOUR SAFETY!

  • How can you adjust the diopter and look at the same time in the right eye? This is not possible!!
    please guide me
    i have a cl 10*30 , this is soooo difficult 😔😱

    • Look through the left barrel and focus the image at the chosen distance with the help of the focusing wheel. Then, close the left eye and look through the right barrel with the right eye. Adjust the diopter, so that the image at the chosen distance is in focus.

      • But my problem is that I can’t see and focus with my right eye at the same time, the design for focusing is very wrong.
and i have important qustion :
Should the diopter be adjusted each time and at different distances? Or is the diopter adjusted once?
If there is one, what is the standard distance for adjusting the diopter of the right eye?

        • The diopter is adjusted only once, at a distance of your choosing. Once the diopter is set, you don’t adjust it again unless someone else uses the binoculars. There is no standard distance, but I suggest you do it at around 100 m.

  • i made a gadget for this problem and i send a picture of gadjet on istagram for swarobirding and swarohunting , You have to admit that the design of the cl componion for diopter compensation has an obvious technical flaw . I am really in agony and difficulty when using this binocular camera, at the same time, I was able to buy it with difficulty and savings, and I was really disappointed after buying it, don’t you consider yourself responsible?!!!

    • I suggest that you contact Swarovski or the company you bought the binoculars from. This is a blog about optics, we also upload instruction manuals of devices in the field of optics. This blog is not owned by Swarovski.

  • I am very grateful for your reply, please if it is possible for you to reach out to Swarovski, I have tried so hard by emailing and on Instagram but they don’t seem to reply to me in their app, or maybe not at all They don’t have, anyway, I’m really sorry that I bought a product from a seemingly reputable company with a lot of money and savings, and they are not even willing to answer my several attempts to answer my questions.
Please, if you can, help me to make my voice heard , My friend had a problem with Leica and emailed them, they responded immediately and even sent him a binocular as a gift to compensate and appease him, but Separoski is not even willing to answer!!!
Can you advise how to look at the right eye in this model at the same time and set the diopter at the same time? I have tested all the ways for a while and tried to make a gadget, but none of them gave the right result, did the designer of the cl componion model really have a problem while designing????
    please help me andraz 🙏🙏🌹🌹🌹

    • Check out this video:

At around 7:00, the diopter setting on the Companion is explained. It is difficult but achieavable to look through and set the diopter at the same time.

If you think that the diopter setting is malfunctioning, you should contact the shop that you bought the binoculars from and and request a repair.

    • Are you referring to the eyepiece or the objective lens cover? There should not be any problems getting them snapped on. Can you explain the problem in detail?

      • Hello
my English is not very good
I mean the diopter adjustment in this model of Swarovski binoculars. Exactly my problem is in diopter adjustment ,The design of this binocular camera has a problem in my opinion ,Because it is not possible to look in the right eye and adjust the diopter at the same time , At first, I thought that the problem was with me and that it was impossible for Swarovski to have a design defect So I started to ask and check, but finally I realized that there is a defect in the design of this camera , I tried to talk to Swarovski via email and Instagram but they had no response but silence 😔😔😳😳,Then I tried to make a gadget to solve this problem, and I sent a photo of it to you and Swarovski, but again they did not answer.
Now I ask for your help to make my voice heard by the Swarovski company , I saved for two years and bought this binocular with difficulty but now I really regret it , I imagine that because I don’t live in Europe, I live in Asia and a country whose government does not value its people ,Therefore, Swarovski does not see any reason to respond to a third world like me 😔
        Please help me.
I will always be grateful for your love.
In short, I say : swarovski cl componion 10*30 diopter setting is wrong impossible at same time vision in right eyecap and focous on diopter ,

        • I can try contacting them, but I assume that they are going to tell me to direct you to the Swarovski dealer in your area (we are located in Europe). Have you tried speaking to the people at the store you bought your Swarovski binoculars from?

There has to be some sort of an issue because I can set the diopter and look through the barrel at the same time without problems.

          • Give me an expert advice please, do you think it is reasonable from material and quality point of view that I change this Swarovski with leica 10*32 BA? Is this binocular camera better than this swarovski cl componion 10×30 model?
            🙏🌹

          • Leica 10×32 BA is an older model which I do not have a lot of experience with. They are no longer manufactured. I’ve heard from others that they are great binoculars, though, but Companion is much newer with more advanced coatings. Leica’s modern competitor to Companion is Trinovid HD.

          • Hello
Can you teach me how you do this?
In my opinion, it is completely impossible.
            Unless I’m completely wrong
Is there a video tutorial that shows exactly how to do it?
Unfortunately, there is no Swarovski representative in my country due to many sanctions.
I bought it from a traveler

          • The dioptre setting on the Companion is not a favourite one among binoculars users generally, but even by not looking through the barrels as you are setting the diopter (adjusting the diopter, checking, adjusting the diopter, checking, etc.), you should get perfect clarity at the chosen distance in a relatively short amount of time unless something is wrong with the binoculars.

Sadly, I do not know of any tutorials and I do not have one to show it to you …

        • Yes, they have to be stretched with some force to get them on (not too much force though, just enough to get them around the barrel). This is the case with all the binoculars that have this type of lens covers to ensure that they stay on once they are in place.
