EYEPIECE FOCUSING AND MAGNIFICATION ADJUSTMENT

The ocular should be focused such that the reticle appears sharp and black. Follow these two steps for quick and easy adjustment:

  • 1 Point the riflescope at a bright surface (e.g. wall) and glance through the riflescope. If the reticle appears already sharp and black, no further adjustment is required.
  • 2 If this is not the case, turn the diopter adjustment, until the reticle is sharp and clear.

For distances less than 100 m, we recommend the use of a lower magnification to avoid problems with simultaneous focusing of image and reticle. To magnify, turn the magnification ring to the left. To lower the magnification, turn the magnification ring to the right. In the center position, the notch marks the 90° angle.

WINDAGE AND ELEVATION ADJUSTMENT

The windage and height adjustment for precise reticle calibration is located behind the protective covers. The reticle adjustments are calibrated so that 1 click corresponds to 1 cm/100 m. The windage adjustment is located on the right side of the riflescope and the elevation adjustment on the top. Turn clockwise (marked “UP”) to move the target point upwards. Turn counterclockwise (marked “DN”) to move it downwards. The windage adjustment operates alike. The individual clicks are noticeable and audible.

ILLUMINATION CONTROL

The Ranger rifl escopes feature a precision-tunable illuminated red dot. Six nighttime levels are available. Direction of rotation: CW. For daytime use, you can select from 5 levels with an extremely bright illuminated dot. Direction of rotation: CCW. The “OFF” end position as well as the intermediate “Day” and “Night” levels do not consume any power. Reticle illumination is powered by a 3-volt CR 2032 battery. The battery is located in the illumination knob and can be accessed by unscrewing the cover. To insert a new battery, screw the battery compartment open on the left side. Press on one side of the battery to lift and remove. Install the new battery with the fl at side (+) up. If you are planning on not using the rifl escope for an extended period, it is advisable to remove the battery.

PARALLAX/FOCUS ADJUSTMENT

All rifl escopes are set to be parallax free to 100 m. The Ranger 4-16×56 model includes a parallax adjustment from 50 m to infi nity. Parallax is the apparent movement of the reticle in relation to the target when the eye is not directly in line behind the center of the rifl escope. Parallax is only required at higher magnifi cations. To adjust the parallax, rotate the adjusting ring on the left side of the rifl escope to the respective target distance. If the distance is unknown, rotate the adjusting ring, until the target image is sharply focused. When the rifl escope is adjusted parallax free for the distance you are viewing, you should be able to move your eye side-to-side or up and down without seeing the reticle move relative to the target.

MOUNTING THE RIFLESCOPE

The riflescope is mounted using 30 mm rings. STEINER recommends the use of high-quality components and the assignment of a qualified gunsmith to ensure safe mounting, correct eye relief, the complete field of vision and maximum accuracy.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Your Ranger riflescope is fully water-pressure proof and fog-proof thanks to its nitrogen filling. In the event that the lenses are subjected to dust, dirt, or mud, follow the following steps: Coarse dirt must be removed from the lens first to avoid damage to the lens coating. Position the riflescope such that particles can fall away from the lens and use a soft brush to gently whisk away debris/dirt, while blowing on the lens to dislodge the particles. For heavy dirt, such as dried mud, you can spray the lens with clean water or lens cleaning fluid to remove the dirt. Your STEINER riflescope will provide years of reliable performance given regular cleaning and care. All moving parts are permanently lubricated. Only the surface of the riflescope and the exterior lenses require occasional cleaning. Never disassemble your riflescope. Disassembly will void the warranty. Protective objective and ocular covers are included as accessories.
