How to Mount Smartclip PCM Converter | Optics Trade Debates

Welcome to Optics Trade debates. In each episode, we talk about a different topic and try to answer the most common questions we receive about it. Today, we are going to tell you how to mount a Smartclip PCM converter.

The PCM converter solves quite a few problems associated with the standard bayonet mount, which was used on the DFA75, DN55 and the Core thermal clip-ons.

Its main function is to convert the standard bayonet mount to a 52 mm thread. The 52 mm thread is used on all quality adapters. If the thermal device was used on big caliber guns, some wear could occur. The PCM converter eliminates all wear and any consequent play. We described the converter in more detail in a previous segment.

Putting the PCM converter on the clip-on is very simple and it works in the same way as with other converters. Before fixing the converter to the clip-on, the converter has to be placed so that there is no air between it and the device. When the converter is positioned correctly, it’s fixed with two screws with which the clamping effect is achieved.

When the PCM converter is fixed, the adapter is screwed on to the converter. When the adapter is placed in an appropriate position it is tightened with a counter ring. The counter ring can be fixed in place with a locking screw.

This solution is completely fixed and wear can’t occur, even if you shoot with the biggest calibers. It even fixes loose connections that are a result of wear.
