Holosun Warranty | Optics Trade Debates

Hello and welcome to another Optics Trade Debates video. Today, we’ll be discussing another topic concerning Holosun products, namely the warranty.

There’s a big problem in how the warranty is defined in the US and how it needs to be defined in the European Union. The many differences in warranties from one Holosun model series to another serve as an additional source of confusion among our customers. That’s why we thought it would be best to explain it all here.

The fact is that in the majority of the US, the customers are used to the term ‘lifetime warranty’. But this term is very flexible and only vaguely defined. Some manufacturers define lifetime warranty as the lifetime of the product itself and then go on to specify that detail in small print. Other brands employ the phrase ‘lifetime warranty’ to simply mean “as long as we are in business”.

Due to the EU legislation, the wording in warranties has to be far more precise in the European market than overseas. It has to be defined in a time range, most commonly in actual years. This is something that confuses so many customers.

Let’s be honest here, we live in a globalised world and it’s not just us at Optics Trade but also our customers who look up information everywhere and consider multiple sources.

Say, you’re looking up an optical device like Holosun HE515CM Elite for example. The very first search result lands you on an American page, the next one might bring you to an Australian domain, followed by a few websites that are located in Europe and so on. Each site makes a different warranty claim about the exact same product. It’s confusing, really.

Since our company is located within the European Union, we will stick to warranty periods as defined by EU laws, that is, in exact years.

The warranty on the majority of Holosun products is 3 years regarding electronics (so, the red dot) and 5 years on housing (if any element of housing should fail). Elite models have a longer warranty period of 10 years on both the electronics and the housing.

However, it is true that it’s really rare that the housing would fail in any way as the neat Holosun’s design makes it difficult for moisture to enter the device. In nearly all cases, the source of red dot malfunction comes from the electronics inside. Not just with Holosun but red dot sights on the whole.

Similar warranty conditions are in use with riflescope manufacturers. There’s a separate warranty claim assigned to the illuminated reticle system and another, usually much longer warranty time period given to the rest of the optical device.

As far as the housing is concerned, the seals have to remain intact and there is no moisture that could enter the device. The nitrogen gas on the inside ensures that there is no internal fogging.

That’s it. We would like to thank you for your time. Please like and share this video if you found it useful. Leave a comment in the section below or send us an e-mail and we’ll get back to you. For more videos like this one, subscribe to our YouTube channel. See ya!
