Hello and welcome to another episode of Optics Trade Debates. In this video, we take a look at the features of binoculars series made by Vortex, called Vanquish.
The binoculars are made in The Philippines and they have been on the market for approximately 7 years. In the Vanquish series, there are 2 models available: 8×26 and 10×26.
The design of these particular binoculars differs from others because they are of the reverse Porro prism type, which means that the objective lenses are narrower whereas the eyepiece lenses are farther apart.
A rubber armored exterior of the binoculars provides a better non-slip grip. Because they have an internal focusing mechanism, they are purged with dry nitrogen, which delivers a fogproof-waterproof performance.
A great feature of these binoculars is that they have adjustable eyecups with two positions, so they can be twisted up and down and are for that reason great for eyeglass wearers. The diopter is on the right ocular.
The field of view is decent. On the 8x magnification, you have around 107 m on 1000 m and on a smaller one around 98 m.
For this price range (approx. 120 €), Vanquish binoculars have some great features and provide excellent performance. It is a great product for beginners, hikers or backpackers because it is lightweight, small and compact. It has narrow eyepieces so it is also suitable for children.
The product comes with a carry case, a neckstrap, eyepiece covers and an instruction manual.
