Repeatable Mounts | Optics Trade Debates

Welcome to Optics Trade debates. In each episode, we talk about a different topic and try to answer the most common questions we receive about it. Today, we are going to talk about repeatable mounts.

Repeatable mounts are a subcategory of detachable mounts. We already discussed repeatable and detachable mounts in the previous segment. They feature sophisticated mechanisms to connect either directly to the rifle, or pivot mounts which can be attached and detached on and from the bottom part of the mount.

The main advantage of repeatable mounts is that they can be attached and detached on a regular basis and don’t need to get re-zeroed.

Repeatable mounts are especially useful for hunters with multiple optics for the same rifle to choose from. It enables the user to have a scope for long-range hunting, low-light hunting, a scope or a red dot for driven hunts. The hunter can make the switch according to the circumstances of the hunt.

It’s really uncommon for tactical and sports shooters to use repeatable mounts since they are more expensive than detachable mounts and are simply not needed for people who don’t hunt.

  • Thank you Andraz, I have a Tikka T3 lite rifle, already receive as a gift a Steiner Ranger 3-24×56, and want to install a Picatinny 20moa base (Talley 20moa bubble level) and want repeatable 30mm rings.
What BS height do you recommend?
