Meprolight Mepro M5 vs. Mepro M21 | Optics Trade Debates

Welcome to Optics Trade debates. In each episode, we talk about a different topic and try to answer the most common questions we receive about it. Today, we are going to talk about the differences between Meprolight Mepro M5 and Mepro M21 red dot sight.

The M21 is a little bit bigger and heavier than the M5. The M21 is powered by optical fibers in the daytime and by tritium in the dark. The M5 is powered by a normal battery. The M21 is made fully out of metal while the M5 is made out of plastic and metal.

The window is a little bit bigger on the M5. It’s also a bit clearer and easier to see trough. The M5 is newer and much more advanced than the M21.

Both devices have a similar quick-release mounting solution. The clamping surface on the M21 is a little bit bigger. A recoil stopper is included only on the M5. The red dots are mounted with just two levers.

The sights are very robust and reliable because they are made for combat.

Mepro M21 is a red dot which is made in a way so that it never fails. The only problem with the self-powering system is that the intensity of the dot is controlled by the brightness level of the surroundings of the sight and not the target.

The M21 has quite a distinctive greenish tint, which is caused by the self-powering system. Mepro M5 has a bigger window, which is really clear.

Mepro M21 has four different dot illumination options, they are all red and one of the options is a triangle. The Mepro M5 currently has only one illumination option, but by the end of 2018, there are going to be four options. There is going to be a dot and a circled dot, both in red and in green. The dot on the M5 is really fine, it’s only 1.8 MOA.

The M5 is optically a better device, but it needs a battery and is less robust.

The M5 is about 15 % more expensive. Both devices are really good in terms of optics and are both very robust.
