Hello, and welcome to another episode of Optics Trade Debates. Here we present and explain the optics and other products offered on our website. Today, our topic is Leica Monovid.
Leica Monovid is a series of optical products built to use with only one eye. There are three models that differ only in style. Monovid 8×20 monocular is available in silver, black and special edition red.
1. Quality
Leica Monovid is quite a special product. Considering its quality and optical performance, it is significantly better than the usual products in this category.
It really excels as a product for its 10 centimeters and 100 grams of weight.
2. Features
Monovid has an armor made from genuine leather. This combined with great build quality contributes to the premium feel of the Leica monocular.
The eyecups can be fixed in two positions, so you can either use it with glasses or without. The focus knob is well made and makes Monovid feel reassuringly robust. Like a lot of other Leica products, it features AquaDura coating.
It repels external factors such as water and dirt from sticking to the lens. We have a separate video in which we explain Leica’s AquaDura coating in-depth.
3. Accessories
Leica’s monocular comes with a close-up accessory lens which allows a detailed observation from approximately 30 cm. That means you can use Monovid as a magnifying glass. The close-up lens is stored on top of Monovid’s case.
It comes with a sling and a leather case which makes it suitable for a gift and practical for every-day use.
All models are made in Portugal.
