Holosun Tube HS406 Models | Optics Trade Debates

Hello and welcome to another Optics Trade Debates video. Our topic of the day are Holosun Tube HS406 models.

There are only two models currently available in this category: Holosun Tube HS406A and HS406C. The model series is named Tube because these red dots are mounted on AR platforms (Picatinny) with a single 30-millimetre cantilever ring. This is the only Holosun series that features this mounting solution. If the user wishes to mount their red dot sight on a different mounting platform, any 30-millimetre ring will do, as long as it’s of the correct height.

As far as the optics are concerned, Holosun offers more than decent quality for the price. There is no tint or distortion on the lens. These durable red dot sights feature a single-piece housing made out of aluminum. Flip-up lens covers are also included with the product.

Holosun Tube HS406 models feature the standard 2 MOA red dot and there is no circle dot option. Altogether, there are 12 illumination intensity levels to choose from, 2 of which are NVD compatible. The illumination is powered by a CR2032 battery that promises 50.000 hours of battery life.

The product features the Shake Awake™ function. When left powered on, the device will go from ‘active mode’ to ‘sleep mode’ after a while to prevent unnecessary battery drain. Once moved, it will power back on immediately.

Now, let’s focus on the individual models. We can refer to Holosun Tube HS406A as the standard model. The device has a battery compartment on its right side in the form of a battery tray and it does not feature a solar panel.

In contrast, the HS406C model does have a solar panel. That means that the device can be used without the battery if there is a sufficient amount of light available. Because of this panel, the turrets are moved slightly to the back. On both models these turret caps are secured with a wire so that the user doesn’t lose them.
