Hello and welcome to another Optics Trade Debates video. Today’s video is a continuation of our debates with the primary focus on Holosun red dot sights. We will talk about the general characteristics and the differences between Holosun Infiniti HS502 models. The two models in question are Holosun Infiniti HS502C and Holosun Infiniti HS502CU Solar.
Since there are only 2 models in the Holosun Infiniti HS502 model family, let’s first discuss some of the basic features of all models that fall under the Infiniti series. All Infiniti models have flip-up covers on the ocular and on the objective lens. The turrets are secured with a wire, making them difficult to lose with even the most forgetful of users. All Infiniti model families (with the singular exception of the 401 family) feature a battery tray on the side of the device.
All Infiniti models also have an integrated quick-release mount with the locking function. Because of the non adjustable height, their use is mostly limited to AR platforms. Holosun Infiniti models are often employed in tactical and in dynamical shooting like the IPSC. Form-wise, they look very similar and draw clear parallels to the famous Swedish red dot manufacturer’s Micro models.
The Holosun models with the number ‘500’ in their name feature a multi-reticle. That means that users can switch between the standard 2 MOA red dot and the circle dot – that is, a 2 MOA dot with a 65 MOA circle around it. This is a nice feature, as the users can easily switch between the two as they please.
Both HS502 models feature a solar panel, indicated by the letter ‘C’ in their name. That means that they can function without the battery, powered by direct sun or artificial light beams. Altogether, there are 12 illumination intensity levels to choose from, 2 of which are NVD compatible.
There is also the Shake Awake™ function that prolongs the already impressive 50.000 hours of battery life. When left powered on after a period of no movement, the device will automatically make a switch from ‘active mode’ to ‘sleep mode’ in order to prevent unnecessary battery drain. Once moved again, the red dot sight will power back on immediately.
Now, let’s point out the only notable difference between the two models. The Holosun Infiniti HS502CU has the added practicality of shrouded turrets, as the letter ‘U’ denotes. With that, the protruding turrets are well-protected against bumps and can withstand much harsher treatment than normally.
