Holosun HS503 Models – Standard vs. Elite | Optics Trade Debates

Hello and welcome to another episode of Optics Trade Debates. We continue on our way through Holosun red dot sights. Today, we’re here to explain the differences between Holosun HS503 red dot devices from 4 different series (Paralow – sometimes also called Micro, Infiniti, Tube, Reflex) and the Elite versions of the same models. To be more specific, the topic of this debate will be the differences between the 5 standard Holosun HS503 models and the 2 Elite HE503 ones.

As of the end of 2018, there are 5 variants of the Holosun HS503 models and two Elite versions. The standard models are HS503BU, HS503C, HS503CU, HS503GU and HS503FL.

All Holosun ‘503’ models have the multi-reticle system (MRS). The user can switch between the standard 2 MOA dot or the circle dot (that is, a 65 MOA circle with a 2 MOA dot in the middle) by holding down the minus button for approximately 5 seconds.

HS503BU has a side battery compartment with a tray. The battery needs to be loaded onto the tray, which is then inserted back into the unit. It has shrouded turrets that are additionally protected against bumps and scratches.

HS503CU features the same battery tray as HS503BU but it comes with the addition of a solar panel. Compare that to HS503C that has the solar panel but does not include the shrouded turrets.

The HS503GU model shown in the video is in the FDE colour option but it can also be bought in the standard black. This red dot has a side battery compartment and shrouded turrets.

The HS503FL sight has flip-up covers and the same battery compartment as HS503GU model.

Finally, there are the 2 Holosun Elite models that feature the number 503 in their name. Holosun brands products that feature a green-illuminated dot and/or are made out of titanium as Elite. That means that the product can either have both of the two elite features or just one.

Holosun claims that up to 20% of the population is colour blind, unable to see red. Of course, some people simply prefer other colours. That’s why many companies today produce red dots with different colours of illumination, most notably green and gold.

The HS503CU and HE503GU Elite models are completely the same as their standard counterparts, except that they feature green illumination.

As far as mounting solutions are concerned, all of these dots are compatible with mounting solutions that work with Aimpoint Micro models. So it doesn’t matter what specific mounting solutions you are searching for, you’ll be able to find it.

Here, we should note that the only Holosun model that doesn’t come with both the high and the low mount is the HS503FL. This one comes only with the low mount and is, therefore, most suitable for hunting applications.

All other models come with both the high and low mount. The high one is best for AR platforms and the low mount for everything else.

This is everything we had in mind for this debate. Thank you for your attention. Please like and share this video if you found it useful.
