Aimpoint Hunter H30 vs. H34 | Optics Trade Debates

Welcome to Optics Trade debates. In each episode, we talk about a different topic and try to answer the most common questions we receive about it. Today, we are going to talk about the differences between the Aimpoint H30 and H34.

If we compare the optical performance of these two devices, the H34 is superior. The optical axes are identical, but the H34 has a bigger window, therefore the user can move farther away from the optimal optical axis and can still see the red dot. The H34 is better in hectic situations but is the same as the H30 in other aspects.

There are more mounting solutions for the H30 than the H34 because it’s mounted with more standard 30mm mounting rings.

The H34 costs a little bit more.

The H30 and H34 come in two models, the S (short) and the L (long). They’re made in two different lengths because of different mounting solutions. The S models are made for rifles with shorter actions or rifles that have Picatinny rails. The model L is generally used on all other rifles that have separate rings and long actions. The L can be mounted on any mount, while the S can be mounted only on mounts that have the rings closer together.

The H34 looks bigger and clumsier than the H30. The H30 is aesthetically more pleasing.

If a red dot is going to be put on a mount which has the mounting rings closer together, we would recommend the shorter models and the longer ones in all other situations.

The H34 is optically better than the H30, therefore we would recommend the H34 if aesthetics are not your first priority.

They are all high-quality red dots, and you can’t go wrong with any of them.
