Automatic brightness control and bright light cut-off are features which can be found on night vision devices. Automatic brightness can be found on digital and analog devices, while bright light cut-off can be found only on analog NV devices.
Automatic brightness control is an advanced feature of a bright light cut-off. If an NV device has bright light cut-off and is hit with a bright artificial light source, the analog cathodes amplify the artificial light source in a different ratio than the darkness around it. It has a „mode“ for complete darkness and a „mode“ for bright light. This function protects the user’s eye and the device itself. We went into more detail in another segment.
Automatic brightness control is a similar system, but it regulates the brightness several times a second. The software adjusts the level of the light amplification. It always regulates the amplification of light for the optimal image quality.
This function is common in high-quality third generation and generation 2+ devices. The function is really precise so that the image is always optimal. It’s a very important feature in analog NV devices because it protects the user’s eyes and the cathode in the device. Its main purpose in digital devices is to achieve a better image quality.
Automatic brightness control achieves a better image quality in all situations on both types of devices.
Different digital NV manufacturers have different names for automatic brightness control because it’s purely a software solution.
The automatic brightness control is found on all digital devices and only on premium analog devices.
